Oct. 24
It was an boo-tiful day in Omaha, NE especially if you were at Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo and enjoying a Spooktacular Day like I was! 20,000 people attended the zoo on this day, many in Halloween costumes, for the Spooktacular event. I lead the parade and had a frighteningly fun time. Thank you to the Omaha zoo staff and all that you do. http://www.omahazoo.com/
Thank you to my friends Twilla and Jasmine (first photo) for your hospitality and showing me a great time in Omaha.
I even got a chance to catch up with Cindie Watts (second photo,) the Essence Pageant Vice President, Assistant Director/Director of Judging.

Oct. 23
I joined my beautiful friend Erin (who was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes 3 years ago) for the annual Step Out: Walk to Fight Diabetes Walk. Thousands of people participated in the walk which was in Denver, CO. My family joined me and we got in a brisk 3 mile walk on a beautiful fall day. Erin was also interviewed by Channel 4 News which is out of Denver.

Meeting Margaret Cho!
Oct. 9th
My husband Jeremy and I attended a VIP Meet and Greet where we met comedian and actress Margaret Cho. The meet and greet was a fundraiser for the Matthew Shepard Foundation, something that is near and dear to my heart. Please visit http://www.matthewshepard.org/
We enjoyed a night of laughs during Margaret Cho's stand up show, "Cho-Dependent," at the historical Paramount Theater in Denver.

Pumpkin Walk in Laramie, WY
Oct. 9th
The Historical Wyoming Territorial Prison in Laramie, WY (which operated in the late 1800s) hosted a Fall Festival with lots of fun for the whole family! I helped greet guests, some of which came in costumes, and I gave them information about the days events. Wagon rides, pumpkin painting, trick-or-treating and games were just some of the fun events held on the grounds for the Annual Pumpkin Walk! 902 children and adults attended. 11th Annual Fi(gh)t For the Cure Event
Oct. 9th
As we all know October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In honor of that, I participated in the 11th Annual Fi(gh)t For the Cure Event at my local Dillards department store. On this day I had my first ever bra fitting by a certified bra fitter! For every woman that participated $2.00 was donated in their name to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. In addition, another $2.00 donation is made for every Wacoal or b.tempt'd bra purchased that day.
Fit for the Cure Events are focused on 3 major objectives:
1. Fund raising for the battle against breast cancer.
2. Educating women about the importance of early detection.
3. Providing women with the high quality undergarments with the proper fit and counseling appropriate wardrobing choices.
The Dillards lingerie department staff was so friendly and professional. Bernadete and Joanna took great care of me and it came as a big surprise that I had been wearing the wrong size bra...for years! Well, I am now educated in how important it is to be fitted for the correct bra and why. I highly encourage all women to be properly fitted for a bra. What a positive and educational cause! I never knew bra shopping could be so fun now that I know what to look for.

Cheyenne Schools Foundation (CSF) Walk/Run
Oct. 9th
I laced up my tennis shoes for a great cause which benefits all Laramie County School District #1 students! My family and I participated in the 14th Annual Cheyenne Schools Foundation Walk/Run at Frontier Park. It was a crisp fall morning and we enjoyed being able to support the event which raises money for the Student Enrichment Grant Program and the Excellence in Education Grant Program (through which funds are awarded to teachers for innovative approaches to assist student learning.)
You won't see Jeremy in the photos as he was the one taking them!

International Walk to School Day
Oct. 6th
Today is International Walk to School Day! Cole Elementary school hosted an event to celebrate the day, designed to bring about a great awareness of the health and lifestyle-related benefits of children walking to school. I loved being part of this fun event and talking to all of the young ladies there that were curious about the Essence pageant. It was an honor to meet the Mayor of Cheyenne, Richard L. Kaysen and the Laramie Co. School Dist. #1 Superintendent Dr. Mark Stock. Many students, parents, community members, school administrators and elected officials participated in today's event. A total of 200 attended and 80 of those were students.

Maurices Fashion Show Supporting ASPCA
What a fast and fun filled day it was participating in the Maurices Fashion Show! As a professional makeup artist I sponsored makeup applications on all of the participating models. It was great wearing Maurices fashions while walking the cat-walk with adoptable animals from the Cheyenne Animal Shelter. What a wonderful cause to be involved with. I loved wearing my Ms. Essence sash and crown for the event and talking to many young ladies about the Essence system. The 2nd Annual Maurices/ASPCA Fashion show featured women of all ages, shapes, sizes and colors.....that's right up my alley! Thank you to the friendly Maurices staff and the fun models that let me bring out their inner diva. We had a blast! Remember: October is Adopt A Dog Month!
